The Storm

Last night a snow storm came through. We lost power by 9pm, along with phone and internet. This morning, still without power, it was so cold in the house. In the family room with the fire, it was okay, but the rest of the house was freezing. None of my babysitting kids showed up, some because school is out. The kids and I made hot chocolate by using water storage water (since the power was out the well would not pump water) and heated in on the fire. We also had a picnic breakfast on oatmeal over the fire in the family room, where it was warm. It was fun testing to see where we were prepared and where we still need some work, like actually having dry wood always stacked on the porch, and not sitting out in the snow.
