This was one of the biggest trees near the creek. It was gorgeous!
Studying the beaver's work.
The beaver dam. This was the neatest thing to see. There were tons of trees all around that had been freshly cut, and you could sit and look along a long length of dam that had made.

Bryan giving the kids a lesson about why beaver's make dams.

We think this was the location of an old housesite. There were several black walnut trees growing in the same area, and those trees do not grow wild. They are planted.

What Bryan and our neighbor, Gary, think was the old well site.
A few months ago the 50 acres that adjoined our land came up for sale and Bryan and I purchased it. A large part of it was cut over last spring, making it not the prettiest piece. Bryan and Gary, our neighbor, have walked back there and explored several times now. The kids and I got to keep hearing about what the beavers were doing, and how neat it was, and today we finally got the chance to go back there too. It finally is not hunting season anymore, and was not too cold today, so we all went back there for a long hike. It was amazing!! The beaver dam was the neatest thing to see, and pictures really cannot do the whole scene justice. And I really want to try to figure out how to research the land to find out if that really is an old house site or what is was. It really was a lot of fun!

What a neat experience to actually see what the beavers are doing and not just hear about it. Great opportunities for the kids.
